What size are ASU dorm beds?

The ASU dorm bed size is Twin XL — 36 by 80 inches — on an adjustable-height frame in every residence hall. Buy bedding labeled Twin XL or Extra-Long Twin: standard twin sheets are made for 75-inch mattresses and won't fit the 80-inch ASU bed. One nuance worth knowing: ASU's mattresses are 36 inches wide, slightly narrower than the 38-inch industry-standard Twin XL, so fitted sheets fit fine but sit a little loose. The adjustable frames raise for under-bed storage — bring low-profile bins and set your bed height on move-in day before the room fills up.

What should I bring to an ASU dorm?

Do ASU dorms have air conditioning?

Yes — every ASU residence hall room is air-conditioned. In Tempe this is a necessity, not an amenity: move-in falls in mid-August when temperatures regularly top 110°F, and serious heat runs into October. You won't need cooling equipment beyond an optional desk fan for circulation or white noise. The AC matters most on move-in day itself — plan an early-morning arrival window, keep water handy, unload fast, and do the actual unpacking indoors.

Do I need a mini-fridge or microwave at ASU?

It depends on your hall. Tooker House and Manzanita Hall include a MicroFridge — a combined microwave and mini-fridge — in every room, plus a lockable storage cabinet, so residents there shouldn't buy either appliance. Hassayampa and Palo Verde East rooms don't include one: most residents there rent a MicroFridge through ASU's rental vendor or bring their own UL-listed mini-fridge.
